In our pursuit of health and wellness, we often face conditioning and hierarchical structures that leave us feeling powerless. The concept of the "guru" or top-down authority figures has become ingrained in our society, leading us to rely on external sources instead of trusting our own intuition. This mindset is prevalent in the healthcare system as well, where allopathy has become the norm, and alternative approaches are marginalized.
To reclaim our autonomy and intuition, we must break free from this conditioning and become self-led. It requires a shift in perspective, seeing the bigger picture of our wellness journey, and reconnecting with nature's ways. Human rewilding, as described by the Cambrian Wildwood website, emphasizes the importance of freeing ourselves from the trappings of our domesticated lives and reconnecting with raw experience.
Now, let's shift our focus to kidney health and why it matters. Many people overlook the vital role that kidneys play in our overall well-being. Traditional Chinese Medicine places great emphasis on the kidneys, considering them the root of life. However, modern medicine often neglects to address kidney health until disease has already set in.
Our kidneys act as filters for toxins and waste in our bodies. In today's world, filled with unhealthy food, polluted water and air, medications, and other environmental toxins, our kidneys are under constant stress. Additionally, factors such as dehydration, high protein intake, processed foods, and certain medications can further harm kidney function.
Renal insufficiency, or decreased kidney function, can occur long before any obvious signs of kidney disease manifest. Therefore, it's crucial to pay attention to our kidney health early on. Kidneys not only filter waste but also regulate fluid and mineral balance, blood pressure, vitamin D metabolism, and the production of hormones that impact various bodily functions.
Calcification of the kidneys is another issue that can arise, causing a decline in kidney efficiency and contributing to high blood pressure. Kidney health is closely linked to adrenal gland function, which is often discussed in holistic health circles. However, it's important not to overlook the kidneys' role in vitality.
To support kidney health, it's essential to hydrate properly, consume real and diverse foods, especially those rich in minerals, manage stress effectively, avoid toxins and processed foods, and prioritize detoxification. Practices like walking barefoot on dew-covered grass or foot reflexology can also stimulate the kidney meridian and support overall kidney function.
In conclusion, understanding the importance of kidney health and taking proactive steps to maintain it is crucial for our overall well-being. Rather than relying solely on the conventional healthcare system, which often falls short in educating us about kidney care, we must reclaim our power and prioritize our own health. Health and wellness coaching can be a valuable resource in this journey, helping us restore our connection with nature and rebuild our biology effectively.
